Anxiety & Overthinking Therapy in NYC
For minds that keep working long after the day is over.
It’s late, the day went fine, and you’re still replaying something you said at 2 p.m. Was it too much? Did they take it the wrong way? You run through tomorrow, then next week, then a conversation that may never happen. By the time you fall asleep, you’re more tired than when you lay down.
During the day you probably look calm. You might even be the person others lean on. That’s part of what makes this kind of anxiety easy to dismiss, including by you.
Sound familiar?
Second-guessing decisions you’ve already made
Overpreparing so nothing can go wrong
Trouble switching off on evenings and weekends
A tight chest, upset stomach or restless sleep with no obvious cause
Putting things off because doing them right feels like too much
What actually helps
Overthinking usually starts as a way to stay safe. If you can anticipate every problem, maybe you’ll avoid mistakes or disappointing someone. So instead of fighting the thoughts head-on, we look at what they’re trying to prevent.
Alongside that, we work on things you can use right away: noticing a loop earlier, calming your body when your mind is racing, and making decisions based on what you value instead of what you fear. I draw from ACT, CBT and Internal Family Systems (IFS), depending on what fits you.
I don’t prescribe medication. If it might help, we can talk it through, and I can help you find a psychiatrist or coordinate with your doctor.
When you’re ready
You don’t need to be falling apart to deserve help; plenty of people come in because holding it together has become exhausting. I see clients in person in New York City and online across New York, New Jersey, Washington, DC and Connecticut. Start with a free 15-minute call.
